Football Doesn’t Have to End When Winter Does
The winter season might be wrapping up, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to put the football boots away.
This year, SSFA is launching Summer Sixes at Kareela Synthetics—a fast-paced and social competition that gives players the chance to keep playing football with their friends throughout the summer months.
With only six players on the field, the game moves quickly. Players get more touches on the ball, more opportunities to score and more chances to be involved in the action. Whether you play every winter, are returning to football or simply want to stay active with friends, Summer Sixes is open to players of all abilities.
Ten Weeks of Summer Football
Summer Sixes will run across Thursday and Friday evenings for 10 weeks from October to December 2026.
Thursday competitions will run from 15 October to 17 December for:
U8–U10 Mixed and Girls
U12 Boys and Girls
All Age Men and Women
Friday competitions will run from 16 October to 18 December for:
U6–U10 Mixed and Girls
U12–U16 Boys and Girls
All competitions are subject to sufficient team nominations.
Something for Every Age
For our younger players in U6–U10, Summer Sixes will be participation-focused. The emphasis will be on having fun, developing skills and enjoying more football with friends without results or ladders.
From U12 through to All Age, divisions will operate as competitive competitions. Teams will play regular competition rounds before finishing with a final round in Week 10. Final-round matches will be determined by ladder positions, with 1st playing 2nd, 3rd playing 4th, 5th playing 6th and so on.
It gives every team a meaningful final match against an evenly placed opponent and the opportunity to finish the competition on a high.
Get Your Team Together
Teams need a minimum of six (6) players and can register up to 10, so now is the time to start organising your teammates.
One team organiser will need to submit an Expression of Interest on behalf of the team. Once the EOI has been accepted, the nominated team contact will receive a PlayFootball registration link to distribute to every player for individual registration.
Player fees are:
U6: $85 per player (4 V 4 smaller field)
U8–U12: $95 per player
U14–U16: $105 per player
All Age: $140 per player
