President’s Update – Welcome to the 2025 Season!

The 2025 football season has arrived, and we welcome our incredible football community! With over 20,000 registered players and counting, we are looking forward to another exciting season filled with passion, teamwork, and great competition across all levels.

Football in the Sutherland Shire is more than just a game – it’s a place where players of all ages and abilities come together to learn, grow, and love the sport. Whether you’re stepping onto the pitch for the first time, returning for another season, or supporting from the sidelines, this year promises to be one of our best yet.

A massive thank you to our volunteers – the lifeblood of our clubs. From club committees and coaches to referees, team managers, and parents who run the canteens, set up fields, and help organise game days, your hard work makes it all possible.

When you see a volunteer at your club, take a moment to thank them. A simple ‘thank you’ goes a long way in recognising their efforts and keeping the spirit of community football strong.

What’s New for 2025?

  • Facility Upgrades & Enhancements – We continue to work with Sutherland Council to improve fields, lighting, and amenities, ensuring the best possible experience for players, coaches, and supporters.

  • Our Coaches play a crucial role in the game, and we are investing in training and support to ensure they feel confident and experienced on match days.

  • Whether you aspire to play at an elite level or just want to improve your game, our SSFA Academy and development programs provide opportunities for players of all skill levels to grow and develop throughout the season.

  • We continue to focus on growing and supporting female football, ensuring more opportunities and pathways for women and girls in the game.

Respect the Game – Let’s create a positive environment for all players, coaches, referees, and supporters. Respect is key – on and off the field.

Key Dates – Stay up to date with fixtures, special events, and finals schedules by following your club’s communication channels and the SSFA website.

Game Day Preparation – Make sure you arrive early, bring all necessary gear, and most importantly, bring a great attitude and team spirit!

To every player, parent, coach, and supporter, we hope you have a fantastic season ahead. Football is about having fun, building friendships, and being part of something bigger

See you around the pitch!

Laura Cowell, SSFA President.
