President’s Welcome 2026 Season
The 2026 football season is here, and once again our Sutherland Shire football community shows up in force.
With more than 19,500 players across our clubs, what we are building together is more than a competition. It’s a connected, local ecosystem where people belong, develop, and contribute.
Football in our region continues to be a place where:
young players take their first steps onto the field
experienced players keep their passion alive, and
families and volunteers build community week in, week out
Whether you are playing, coaching, managing, refereeing, or supporting from the sideline, you are part of something that matters.
Our volunteers remain the backbone of everything we do.
From committee members managing governance, to coaches shaping players, referees upholding the laws of the game, and the many hands behind the scenes on game day this season only happens because of them.
Make a point this year to acknowledge that effort.
Respect and recognition are what sustain community sport.
What’s New for 2026
This season, we are continuing to evolve how we operate to make the experience smoother, more efficient, and future focused.
We have officially moved to a fully digital system for match sheets and player identification.
This is a significant step forward for our competition reducing admin, improving accuracy, and aligning with how modern sport is delivered.
Clubs, referees, and team officials will need to ensure they are familiar with the system prior to game day. A small shift operationally, but a big step forward for the association.
Focus Areas for 2026
1. Facilities & Infrastructure
We continue to advocate and work with Council to improve fields, lighting, and amenities. Investment in infrastructure remains critical to sustaining participation and growth.
2. Coach Development & Support
We are strengthening support for our coaches ensuring they feel confident, capable, and equipped across all levels of the game.
3. Player Pathways & Development
Our Academy and development programs remain a key focus, providing clear pathways for players at all levels.
4. Growing the Women’s Game
We are continuing to expand opportunities for women and girls across participation, coaching, and leadership.
5. Respect & Culture
Respect is non-negotiable. The way we speak, act, and support each other shapes the entire experience of community football.
